This is an activity for beginning orchestra students.
Before students are allowed to use bows on their instruments, they must log 1,000 bow holds (much like logging driving hours before getting a drivers license), 100 of which must be supervised by the teacher. Students must log those bow holds on a pencil/dowel/other until they log at least 800 bow holds.
This is a written test students take before they are allowed to start logging their bow holds, allowing them to show whether or not they understand the proper steps to creating a bow hold. If they pass, they are now listed as Learner's Permit owners.
