This full lesson plan will help you setup, rotate, and let the students have a good time while they are engaged in the life time activity of bowling. There are diagrams, transitions, warm-ups, and terminology that the students should know. It's a simple lesson that can be done even at the youngest of ages. It's a great lesson because the students get to try this activity out of school as well.
This lesson covers the following objectives: Given the rules and safety for the classroom, the bowling pre-test, the progressive bowling activity and the pull-up test, the students will be able to utilize safety and responsibility by accepting responsibility when following all directions and classroom rules for the entire introduction to bowling activity lesson.
Given a bowling pre-unit test, the students will be able to recognize the key terms and placement of the bowling pins by finding the answers to the assessment from previous knowledge with 100% accuracy.
Given a “Muscle of the Month” wall of knowledge, a skeleton visual aid and a teacher question and answer session, the students will be able to recall the muscle of the month and the bones on the skeleton by remembering the reasons for strengthening the biceps and the names of each bone on the skeleton given by the teacher during the entire review session.
Given a model demonstration, music, general space and personal space for the warm- up activity “Poly Spot Hop”, the students will be able to make use of locomotor skills that cover the new muscle of the month by performing a variety of locomotor movements chosen by the teacher for the entire warm-up session.
Given a visual aid and a teacher question and answer session, the students will be able to identify the key terminology of bowling by reciting the meaning of a strike, spare and turkey and listing the number of the pins in the correct order with 100% accuracy.
Given a model demonstration, a group of three to four students, personal space, a bowling lane and music for the progressive bowling activity, the students will be able to make use of bowling fundamental movements by performing the four critical elements to executing a successful bowling delivery during the entire activity session.
This lesson is one to try and doesn't require too much work because the students setup and take down the materials after explanation. Try it if you never done a lesson like this.
