This predictable, patterned rhyming book uses only one new word at the end of each sentence. The location words “on” is featured throughout the book, and holiday-related vocabulary is targeted. This book allows emergent readers the opportunity to recognize and learn familiar, predictable text. Four different pictures are provided for “Bows on me.”
Print and laminate all book pages and cut in half. Bind the book on the left edge.
Print pages in greyscale to make take-home books.
The picture cards can be used to pre-teach the vocabulary, or for matching picture to word or to text. Small ‘bow’ pictures are included to allow students to have active participation with each page by placing them on the objects named on each page of the book. I use clear velcro dots.
