This lesson allows students to ask questions to try and determine what secret item is hidden in a box. For my lesson I chose a microphone hidden in a shoebox. This connected to our non-fiction unit.
Step 1: Fill in some yes or no questions on worksheet, in order to guess what item is in the box.
Step 2: Pass around the box and have students ask their questions. Each student can give one answer guess about the item in the box. Students should also write their guesses on the paper.
Step 3: After a significant amount of guesses, and all students have asked at least one question, you can provide hints or just reveal what is in the box.
Step 4: Students should then complete the reflection, and a discussion should take place about what was learned through the process of inquiry.
Step 5: Explain the homework assignment.
