PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Brainy Bracket is a two-person game that lets students practice skills from multiple subjects while enjoying a friendly yet competitive game. This game can be played by two students, a student and a teacher, or as a class competition. All instructions are included.

*** Flash cards/ questions NOT included! (I used a worksheet with problems cut apart for a fun and quick review.)

Materials Needed:
Stack of Flash Cards or comprehension questions, or cut up a worksheet to use as practice problems. (I used EOG review book- made copies of pages on cardstock and cut out individual questions. Cutting apart a worksheet makes the worksheet MUCH more fun!)
Basketball goal and ball (I used an over-the-door hoop, but you could also take a trip to the gym or just use a trash can with crumpled scrap paper) You may want to lay a piece of masking tape on the floor as a shooting line.

Rules:
Student versus Teacher Game
• For each question that the student answers, the student gets to take one shot. (Because the student is doing all the "work", I let the student take all the shots!)
• If they make the shot, student wins the round.
• If they miss the shot, teacher wins the round.
• For second through final round questions:
• If teacher won both rounds, student must shoot and score TWO shots to win.
• If student wins both rounds, student must shoot two shots and get at least one in.
• If teacher wins one and student wins the other, student shoots one shot. If it goes in, student wins. If it does not go in, teacher wins.

Student versus Student Game
• For each "game", students must answer one question (possibly the same question so they can discuss the answer). Each student takes a shot.
• If one student misses and the other makes the shot, the one who makes the shot wins the "game".
• If both students miss or both students make the shot, continue into "overtime" and each student takes another shot. Continue until one student makes the shot and the other does not. The winner advances to the next round.
• For second through final round questions:
• If both students are playing each other in the next round, each student gets to take a shot. Continue to "overtime" to break any ties.
• If the student A is playing student A in the next round, student B has a chance to steal the game by shooting and making two out of two shots. If student B misses either of the two shots, student A automatically moves to the next round.

Class Game:
• Have students first pair up to play the bracket game with a partner. The winner of those games will play the winner of other games. (Let's say player A wins from one of your groups, and Player C wins from the other group. Player A and C get together to complete another bracket).
• Continue until there is a class champion! (You may also want to create a bulletin board using your class brackets similar to the March Madness one to show your entire class!)
