The branches of government are a hard concept for students to grasp. To help my students, I created these two activities.
These activities could be used in many different ways. For the sort game, you could have it set up at a center, you could have different tables compete with one another, you can use it as a scoot game, or you can even use it as a whole group game by providing each student with a card and having them go up to the board and put the card under the correct heading. The possibilities are truly endless!
The writing craftivity is hands-down one of my favorites so far this year! I was really touched by some of the things my students wrote when answering the writing prompt. You too may learn a lot about your students after reading their responses. Check out the preview to see the final product!

I can honestly say that these activities really helped my students get a better understanding of the three branches of government. I really hope you and your students do too.
