Use this hands-on activity to provide your students with a concrete, kinesthetic, and visual learning experience to teach the branches and levels of government. Students must write the main offices or officials of each branch at each level on leaves. Then, they may color, cut, and paste the leaves onto the correct branches at the appropriate level of government. The leaves are larger for the national level, medium-sized for the state level, and smallest for the local level. I recommend that students color the tree and cut-and-paste it onto a large piece of construction paper as a sturdy background.
Due to the ever-changing names of the officials holding office and the variance of office names by state, I have not included an answer key.
