PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Created using Word 2007.
This product includes an introduction to Huxley's Brave New World. There are three pages discussing the history of the novel, setting, concepts, and characters. There is much information about the historical context of the novel and the events that inspired the author. There is a brief list of fulfilled Huxley "prophecies." Following is an article by Jhan Hockman which explores the various arguments that Huxley makes to promote individualism. I have students read the intro info and subsequent article and paraphrase each paragraph, a method that I find promotes more attentive reading. I've included an activity which requires students to read my paraphrases of the Hockman article (totaling 12) and draw parallels to 1984. I used clear font and relevant graphics. The activity has space for student responses. Please have a look at my other BNW and 1984 products, especially the PowerPoints for BNW concepts and Goldstein's book. Thank you for your consideration.
