I have created four different choice boards for the three meals that students have while at school with accompanying food picture symbols.
In order to foster independence and decision-making skills when it comes to meal time, I have developed these adapted Boardmaker visual support boards for students with disabilities so that they can make their own decisions regarding food selections and to help them in making simple requests.
There is a choice board for breakfast, lunch, snack time, and a board where students can make simple requests for items such as condiments, utensils, or even simply saying that they are finished. Each of the three meal choice boards allow for students to select from up to three different food options and I have included picture symbols for many common foods found during each of the three meal times. There are also picture symbols for a variety of common condiments, as well as they are picture symbols for basic requests or wants (such as finished, more, help, etc).
