When I was looking for the perfect film to show my seniors, Breaking Away proved to be the one. When I went from teaching basic-level seniors to an advanced film class, Breaking Away was still what I chose to use. It's relevant to their lives and still inspirational, yet it makes them think about where they're headed in a way that young adult authors often miss.
If you're looking for a story that deals with the themes of friendship, fear, honesty, money, escape, coming of age, college, love, parenting, and many more, this is your story and your download.
I include my own notes, my co-teacher's notes of my discussing my more extensive hand-written notes, a really nice final test with a lot of options, and several paper options.
As with all of the films I watched with students, we always watched some and discussed some, so this unit will take over a week.
