This activity requires scissors, glue sticks and colored paper.
Students are asked to break apart the y=mx+b equation by cutting the equation into pieces. Then, using their algebra skills, they break the relationships between variables using the EQUAL and OPPOSITE operator to rearrange the equation! Pens can be used to write in division, subtraction and multiplication. Students who exhibit proficiency in algebra and multiple step equations should be able to create 4 or more equivalent formulas for y=mx+b.
