Do you ever use breakout games in your classroom to build engagement of content? The problem solving skills students practice are so beneficial and tying in a content area helps with review and informal assessment.
For this breakout, students will be focusing on 5 genres of fiction: realistic fiction, traditional literature, historical fiction, mystery and fantasy. The students will have to solve clues and puzzles by reading descriptions of texts, matching texts to genres, definitions of genres and reading an article to determine common traits of genres.
You will need the following locks:
• 3-Digit Lock Box
• 4-Digit Lock
• Key Lock
• Word Lock
However, the breakout game is easily adaptable to a digital breakout.
