These reading assessments for Katherine Paterson’s Bridge to Terabithia will help you tremendously in assessing your students’ reading comprehension of this classic young adult fiction. Mostly, the assessments are grouped by twos: chapter one and two; chapter three and four; chapter five and six, et cetera. The questions come in a variety of formats: true-false; multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank; short answer; matching. And all have complete answer keys. All together, there are approximately one hundred questions. I have designed these assessments with the common core in mind. Students will face basic comprehension questions, inferential questions, and higher-order thinking skill questions.
The assessments are challenging, so you should feel comfortable with allowing students to sit for the assessments with reading notes and/or the novel in hand. For honors-level students, these aids may be eliminated. In this way, you are satisfying differentiation requirements.
