Teaching Critical Thinking with Numbers reiterates that math phobia is evident in many basic math and even more advanced statistics classes and can be traced to attitudes towards numbers developed in elementary or middle school. While learning to appreciate how numbers (mathematics) functions in society, how they can be used as a tool in problem-solving, students can learn techniques for critical thinking and for arriving at truth.
