This is a set of about 18 paragraphs that students need to turn into dialogue. For example, a paragraph may say something like, Max said that he had a lot of fun at the dance. The students will take that and change it to, "I had a lot of fun at the dnace!" Max exclaimed. This activity gives students the opportunity to practice bringing their writing to life with dialogue. It also challenges them to correctly punctuate and write dialogue within their writing. Some of the paragraphs and goofy--feel free to change the names to fit your classroom or school! I sometimes print many of these out, crumple them out, and throw them around the room for students to grab and correct. When they finish with one, they crumple it up and throw it around the room, then search for a new one. We call it "Dialogue Snowball Fight".
