This is a 22 slide, highly animated, power point presentation on British History - The Glorious Revolution. Each of the slides are editable so you can modify the slides if you need to.
During the course of the 17th century, the political system of England changed from: the Absolute Monarchy of the Tudors to; a Constitutional Monarchy; then to the rule of Parliament.
Queen Elizabeth, died in 1603 bringing an end to absolute monarchies in England. The Tudors had ruled with the support of Parliament which dated back to the Middle Ages. Parliament was subservient to the kings under the Tudors. They found Parliament useful and kept it.
Absolute monarchs claim to be unlimited in power and authority, accountable only to God. A Constitutional Monarchy is a system of government where the power of the ruler is limited. Power is limited by law, by a Parliament or by a legislative branch; and ultimately, by the people.
This is a revolutionary principle that fundamentally challenges the idea that the rulers derive their authority directly from God.
