This is a FREE product. “3 Days with the Brontes” is similar to a number of biographical products in my store about writers:
4 Days with F. Scott Fitzgerald
5 Days with Elie Wiesel
4 Days with Harper Lee and To Kill a Mockingbird
5 Days with O. Henry and The Gift of the Magi
5 Days with Henry David Thoreau
5 Days with William Shakespeare
5 Days with Edgar Allan Poe
5 Days with Jack London
5 Days with Mark Twain
5 Days with Charles Dickens and a Christmas Carol
5 Days with George Orwell
5 Days with Langston Hughes
Teachers can use this set of activities in a number of ways, in class, as assignments, or as an independent study: there are 3 biographical passages about the Bronte sisters, Charlotte, Emily, and Anne, covering their background, their lives as teens and young adults, and their writing careers. They average 350 words in length. Each passage stands alone and can be used individually or as bell ringers for a three day period. If used as a warm-up, each passage can be read and the activities on the right panel be done within 10 minutes or so. The biography is also included in one continuous text of three pages if the teacher wishes to use it in that format. There is a page of short essay questions that can be used as additional assignments or on a test.
This product is aligned for Common Core Standards for grades 9 and 10 but I think it would be appropriate for grade 11 as well and even gifted students in grade 8.
Answer keys are included for all the biographical exercises and a teacher’s guide is included as well. A list of aligned Common Core standards is included.
The Bronte biography is original, written by me and I used a number of very good biographies and reputable websites. Photos used are all in the public domain.
