This is a mini-research project designed to be used with Nikki Grimes' novel Bronx Masquerade. The novel includes quite a few allusions and references to a variety of topics, poets, historical information, and so on.

Students should select (or be assigned) a topic and have time to create their Expert Presentation slides before reading the novel as a class. When the topic comes up in your class reading of the novel, that student will then present their "expertise" on the subject to provide more context for the class.

This document includes a table with 24 expert presentation topics for students to choose from (some examples: racial passing, drug abuse, Langston Hughes, and Louis Armstrong). You can always change, delete, or add to suit your students' needs and maturity levels.

It also includes a rubric for grading purposes.
