This product is a 9 page printable handout to accompany the book "Brother Eagle, Sister Sky" illustrated by Susan Jeffers. (actual book is not included) It is a PDF file.
There is an introduction activity that corresponds with the book, “Legends of the Iroquois” where students would read the short story about conservation as an introduction to the lesson, but this could skipped. The lesson would begin with the “Big Questions.”
The first two pages offer "Big Questions: What is culture? Why explore multiculturalism?" Then, it reviews text based vocabulary. The second page has discussion questions and a simile/metaphor section.
Then, there are 20 questions. There are 10 "Right There" questions and 10 Inferential questions. I print out the questions and give a set to each group. The students categorize the questions and then answer them. There is a key for the questions as well.
This is a great book and I love discussing the illustrations with the kids. I also have a PowerPoint presentation in my store that corresponds with this handout. I hope you find this useful.
