This is a great opening activity for PreK or Kindergarten. I use this worksheet after we have read the book a few times (we also LOVE to sing and dance to the YouTube video by David Glenn!).
After reading the book, we color the animals, then cut them out and glue them to the brown bear color wheel sheet. I have included the colored "key" for those that need help with their color words. (I just project mine onto the board. It also helps kids use the resources around them.)
I have the students put their color wheel in their folder (after it's dry) and we refer back to it later when we are learning about the color wheel (after I teach Roy G. Biv). This is a great activity to assess multiple skills in young artists (color and color name recognition, cutting, gluing, placing items on drying rack). I also use this opportunity to teach students what to do when they finish their project (since student completion time often varies wildly). This project usually takes two 45 minute classes.
Hope you enjoy this color wheel!
