Want to extend your vocabulary instruction into your direct teaching station? Add this simple matching task.
Designed for 3-5 year old children with autism or intellectual delays, this simple matching task puts new vocabulary in front of students throughout the day. I usually use this matching task during direct teaching, either saying the word for nonverbal students or encouraging students who have some oral language to name the pictures.
This vocabulary task coordinates with the book Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See. Vocabulary words/pictures are: brown bear, red bird, yellow duck, green frog, purple cat, white dog, black sheep and orange fish. I do use the orange fish rather than gold fish because I use the book to teach colors and orange is a more common color than gold.
