This emergent reader is perfect for learning colors, practicing how to read and write color words, as well as, the high frequency words “I”, “see” and “a”. It is also great for practicing concepts of print while having your kiddos track print from left to right while touching each word as they read and for working on fluency.
After reading, have your kiddos cut each picture from the sequencing activity and glue them in sequential order, to a sentence strip. Then have them use the pictures to retell the story to a friend.

which includes the full original text of Eric Carle’s book, which is great for practicing concepts of print as well, since kids quickly memorize the rhythmic text from this story. Check out my other Brown Bear Activities as well.
