This packet is developed to target simple syllable patterns for Childhood Apraxia of Speech. This packet will also be beneficial for other speech disorders. The packet uses many early developing sounds such as /p, b, m, n, t, d, w/. Some of the chosen targets include greater variety of sounds including /s, r, l, f, k, g/. Using this variety will target all of your students’ current sounds to capitalize on sounds they already have in their phonetic inventory, while practicing new structures.
This packet is a year round version of the seasonal sets (Falling Flakes and Falling Leaves). The images are the same as those sets.
To Play: 174 cards and 11 homework sheets are included to target syllable patterns of increasing complexity. Each card includes a piece of gum that pictures an image and word. In the bottom left corner of the card a black dot is included. These dots represent the number of syllables and allow students to touch them while they produce the sound, emphasizing multi-sensory practice. The top left corner of the card is marked by color and syllable pattern to help organize the card set. To play, print all gum pieces. Students can either play with a single-sheet in front of them or with a poster size candy machine. I print the poster size gumball machine, attach it with tape to a wall, and attach 18 Velcro dots. Attach dots to the back of the gum cards and then let students add/remove them from the poster.
