Product Description
This FREE SAMPLE for Bud, Not Buddy reading comprehension test for chapters 1 through 5 was written for use in regular, inclusion, and special education classrooms. In addition to the tests, this package includes character study guides for students, modified sections and an answer key for teachers.
The complete package, available here, has six tests and is 105 pages. There are between 38 and 49 questions per test.
All modified questions are in the sequencing and character identification portion of the test and are on separate pages. The word modified only appears on the teacher’s answer keys. Therefore, you will have to sort these pages out when printing your unit.
Each test is made up of multiple choice questions; sequencing questions; true/false questions; character identification — matching; and identifying quotes — fill in the blank. The test is easy to correct and provides an accurate tool to check student’s understanding of the material.
In keeping with the Common Core Standards, page numbers from the book are provided for each question and students are encouraged to use the text to find their answers. The questions are designed to test: recognizing cause and effect; recalling facts and details; comparing and contrasting; understanding sequence; making predictions; finding word meaning in context; identifying author’s purpose; drawing conclusions and making inferences; interpreting figurative language; and understanding hyperbole, alliteration, imagery, onomatopoeia, personification, metaphors and similes.
Experience proved that the more competent students successfully answer many of the questions using recall, while less competent students relied heavily on using the provided page numbers and the text, making these test a useful tool to help the overall student population become more confident readers.
