This is a flexible project to link the real world with school curriculum. This budget project may be given in one day or modifications are included for this lesson to be used over an entire semester. This project will effectively address curriculum related to Economics, Business, Finance, and real world experiences. Students have always commented they can live on their own and their parents don't provide much. This is the opportunity for students to attempt to live on a low wage, find an apartment, acquire health insurance to comply with the Affordable Care Act, develop a menu, research automobile insurance, and successfully balance this new budget. Great topic of conversation at Back to School Bight and Open House! This assignment will impact students for years to come as I have frequent requests for a copy of this project after graduation.
