An activity for students to practice budgeting, math skills, and even a little writing! For this vacation budget, students must analyze choices between different hotels, meal options, activities, and more to try to stay within their $2,500 budget for their trip to Hawaii!
This resource includes the printable packet with different travel options, as well as a printable budgeting sheet that guides students and helps keep them organized as they plan and calculate.
At the end of the activity the students are asked to determine how much money they were over or under budget. Depending on his or her outcome, students must identify changes he or she could make to stay within budget, or brainstorm what could be done with the remaining money. There is a rubric and a "using this resource" guide sheet for you the teacher if you so choose to use them.
I love using this activity after introducing students to the concept of a budget, or as a fun activity with my summer school kiddos!
