This is a great way to keep students engaged while reading the Magic Tree House book, Buffalo Before Breakfast. I focused on inference for the first four chapters. It starts with a quick introduction to inference, and then I have students build background knowledge by scanning a QR code that will take them to a website designed for kids about the Great Plains. I also have them make predictions about what will happen in this book by looking at the cover. The final 6 chapters focus on Cause and Effect. I grouped chapters together in groups of 2, with 1-2 questions for each. At the end, there is another QR code that leads students to a fun game where they answer questions about the book!
