Help music and instrumental students solidify their understanding of simple note values in this game! This game is a variation of the popular card game "War".
This game is for two people, or engage a group class by having a mini-tournament!
Each player has a deck of bug cards. The game begins with each player flipping over a card at the same time. The player with the highest note value card "captures" the other player's bug and adds it to their "bug collection." If the values are equal, each player plays a second card to decide the winner. Play continues until all the cards are played.
Who will have the most bugs at the end of the game?
I have also included a note tree showing the values of each note and rest from longest value to shortest, as well as a short warm-up worksheet to be sure the students are prepared to play the game.
Note and rests in this game: quarter note, quarter rest, half note, half rest, dotted half note, whole note and whole rest.
