For the CVC Set:
Students find the 3 snowballs and hat that match the word family detailed on the hat to build their snowman. They can use the optional recording sheet to record the words that were on each snowball.
A blank snowball is also provided- challenge students to write their own word (real or nonsense) to match the word family using a dry erase marker. Child size socks work great as erasers, as well as ‘Magic Eraser!’
For the Rhyming/Word Family Set:
Students find the 3 snowballs and hat that all rhyme. They can use the optional recording sheet to draw pictures (or have them write the word to match the pictures) that were on each snowball.
Mix the Sets:
Students would find a combination of words and pictures to complete the snowman and record on the recording sheet.
Optional Recording Sheets:
Students can use the 4/8 sheet (front or front/back) or choose one snowman they built and record just that one on the large snowman recording sheet.
Students can also use one of the large snowman sheets to create their own rhyming/CVC snowman
Use the printables as a center extension, review/practice, morning work, homework, etc!
Students can use BINGO dabbers to mark the correct answer, or crayons to color.
Laminate a set of printables and use dry erase markers or counters to mark the answer.
Your students are sure to have 'SNOW' much fun while learning to read CVC words and practice identifying rhyming pairs and word families!
