Students will have fun making words using consonant and vowel dice.
Included in this game is one die for the short vowel sounds. (In black & white and peach.)
Two dice for consonants. (In black & white and blue.)
The build a word mats are also in black & white and blue & peach. I suggest if you don’t want to print in color that you use colored paper to help the students to know the vowel goes in the middle.
There is a recording sheet for recording the real words and nonsense words the students make.
I run the cubes and build a word mats on cover stock. I use cover stock for many of my games because it is a little thinner than card stock and runs through the printer better. You can use card stock too. I laminate the mats.
Students can play individually or with a partner. Each player gets their own recording sheet.
Players roll the 3 dice. They place each die on the build a word mat. They say the sound of each letter, blend them and read the word. They decide if it is a real word or nonsense word and record it
in the correct column on the recording sheet. Play continues until they get at least ten words recorded.
