This mini-project is a great group activity to extend student thinking. Students will design a city based off specific instructions. They will have to use their understand of rectangular prisms and volumes to design buildings to place in their city.
Students can also extend their creativity by adding more details. My students did very well of thinking outside of the box to make it look like a busy city. This project takes about 3 class periods.
This is an easy print and go activity. The supplies needed are listed within the document, but are supplies every classroom has readily available.
There is no rubric included, but there is an answer key for the values that will be the same across all projects.
