This activity includes: 36 /th/ short stories, 36 /ch/ short stories, and 36 /sh/ short stories. Students can repeat the sentence stated by the therapist, read the card on their own, or repeat the individual target words. This activity also includes 216 listening comprehension questions (two to go along with each card). In this activity, students collect cards to “build a snowman” by filling up their snowman mat, so this material is a language activity, an artic activity, and a game all in one!!!!
To prepare: Print out one snowman part mat for each student, as well as all of the game cards. Laminate and cut out the mats and all game parts. (Suggestion: Glue/tape the sentence card and listening comprehension card together before laminating.)
To use: Give each student a game mat. Put all sentence cards in a bag or flip over on a table. Students draw cards and repeat the individual word (to target the sound in words), repeat the sentence the therapist has read (to target the sound in sentences), read the sentence (to target the sound in reading), or listens to the sentence read by the therapist and answers the additional questions (to target listening comprehension). If the student completes the task correctly, they get to keep the card and put it on their snowman mat. The first student to collect all snowman parts (or to have the most parts at the end of the session) is the winner. “Take an extra card” cards are also included in this activity.
