Description

Looking for a way to engage your middle school students around Thanksgiving? As students correctly solve math problems, teams choose any other team to target and draw a feature to "build" their turkey. The last team to have a fully built turkey wins the game. These "Build-A-Buddy" games are student favorites because they combine creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. This game is a bit like hangman and a bit like "Grudge".

This particular version features Thanksgiving-themed math problems. Students will need to have knowledge of basic percent and fraction proportional reasoning. It is appropriate for middle-school classrooms (and even upper elementary). The majority of the problems can be solved without higher math skills, but will require strategic thinking!

This game covers a wide variety of math content, with word problems involving division, multiplication, percentages, fractions, patterns, ratios/proportions, and logic. Such a fun way to review and practice critical thinking skills!

We tried this out at home with my two upper elementary-aged children. They were absolutely engrossed in the problems and kept asking for more!
