Description
There is no better way to learn how to solve word problems than to practice writing your own! These word problem activities include five stations that will take students through the process of constructing word problems.
This bundle includes all of my build-a-word-problem themes including:
- Halloween
- Winter
- Thanksgiving
- Pirate
Any additional build-a-world-problem themes I create will be added to this bundle.
Each activity will guide students through the following stations as they construct their word problems:
•The first station is called Word Problem Design. At this station, students will pick up their word problem “blue print” which will provide them with the structure for their word problem.
•The second station is the Material Acquisition center. At this station, students will choose some images to help them visualize and construct their word problem.
•The third station is called Construction & Assembly. At this station, students will write the first draft of their word problem using the “blue print” to assist them with the structure and organization of their word problem.
•The fourth station is Quality Control. Student work is peer edited to check for accuracy. Rubric is included.
•The fifth station is called, Final Production. At this station, students will rewrite their word problem on nice paper and glue down their images.
•Final activities can include:
•Bind all student work into a “word problem book” and allow students time to read and solve the word problems.
•Use the final word problems as task cards. Place them around the room with numbers and have students solve.
