STEAM Project Based Learning (PBL) CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.MD.A.3
Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. MANY OF THE PAGES ARE LOCKED AND DO NOT ALLOW FOR EDITING AS THEY CONTAIN RESTRICTED GRAPHICS.This is an extension activity that you will find "for FREE" in my upcoming Chapters 13-24 Novel Study for Cassie Beasley's "Circus Mirandus." In this fun fifty page product, students will learn about the STEAM process by reading about an animal and filling in a questionnaire and then working in their engineering team to create a cage free habitat/zoo (using area and perimeter for squares and rectangles) that will protect the chosen animal from predators and people. There are six animals covered: 1) Grizzly Bear; 2) Camel; 3) Gorilla; 4) Elephant; 5) Beaver; and 6) Tiger. There are also blank black and white trading cards that the students can fill in and additional color trading cards that allow students to do their own research, if they wish, to add more animals than the above six to their habitats/zoos.
Exact items included are:
