This is an easy assignment that teachers can customize for any subject and any content area! I typically used it for math problems; however, if you have 11 questions to ask a student...you can use this!
In this activity, students will have to complete a set of 11 questions/problems that you give them. The pages are included for you to write in your questions/problems. Each problem is assigned to a corresponding part of the Nutcracker. When the student correctly solves that particular problem, he earns that part. Once all 11 problems are correctly solved, the student will have the 11 pieces needed to construct the Nutcracker.
The students will then color, cut out, and assemble (glue) the Nutcracker onto white construction paper. They will also draw a background. Students create their own faces and hair to give the Nutcracker personal flair.
What do you do when the student doesn't earn a part or parts?
A. Have them get creative and work with what they earned. I've had students that haven't earned all the parts and came up with creative ways to assemble what they did have and create a background to make it work!
B. Make them attempt it a certain amount of times before you give in and give them the parts.
