This project was perfect for my AP anatomy class. Students will learn about the complicated way in which the heart works by building their own model heart. Students begin by building their model heart. They then label their model. Finally, they explore the 5 phases of the heart. This project culminates with each lab group putting on an presentation in order to model how the heart works. This 10 page packet includes a teachers tip page with trouble shooting for building the model, drawn diagrams of the final model, detailed lab procedures, and conclusion questions. It also includes an answer key to the conclusion questions and a rubric for easy grading. I have done this project/lab with my 12th grade anatomy students, but it could be modified for a gifted/honor's biology class as well.
