PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

(Save money - this unit is part of a BUNDLE).

The development of literacy sub-skills directly affect a student’s reading ability. This program is intended to be used daily by students in groups and independently.

*Food/farm theme
*Recommended book for Unit 2 – “How Did That Get In My Lunchbox?” by Chris Butterworth*

Did you know that research shows traditional phonics programs over-target short vowel sounds and don’t do enough to teach the variety of sounds that an early reader will encounter.

Interactive Essentials is built on supporting learners in a natural way as they encounter new words AND incorporates the fundamental motivation for teaching reading – access to interesting and meaningful books.

LOW PREP means printing and assembling packs, locating the book, and printing and laminating the word study cards.

The words used in every unit correspond to an actual book in print. While you do not need to utilize the print book or conduct a read-aloud with your students, it is strongly recommended and is a developmentally appropriate practice. The use of a book, direct code instruction and practice, and direct vocabulary instruction is best practice and is recommended by the International Literacy Association (formerly the International Reading Association (IRA, 1999). Start Here has no affiliation with the recommended book, it is only a suggestion.
