Students design and build a house with a variety of common materials using geometry. This can be a group or a single project and covers several aspects of geometry. It can be used as a 6 weeks Project, a Unit Review Project, End of the course review or extra credit. The students love this project and can be very creative while putting their geometry knowledge to good use! Demonstrates levels of comprehension, mastery and puts geometry in "real world" application. You can even make it a contest and have your admins come by and choose the best, or, have each student choose the best house in the class and compete against other classes! So, so many things you can do with this activity!
Objectives: 1) Students will identify, name, and label basic geometry terms (points, lines, planes, etc). 2) Students will construct and measure congruent line segments and angles. 3) Students will give examples of segment addition postulate and angle addition postulate. 4) Students will identify and name and label angles. 5) Students will measure and find perimeter and area.
