Product Description
Included in this resource is a 16 slide PowerPoint presentation that gives students introductory information about the backbone or spine. Students will discover that the spine is made of of three central components - the spinal cord, vertebrae, and cartilage discs. They will then construct their own model backbone and use it to formulate new knowledge and a deeper understanding of how the spine works.

The Additional Materials PDF file contains a "Suggested Learning Sequence" as well as two letters to send home to families regarding the project. One to solicit the necessary supplies and the other for the students to take home as homework. Most importantly; however, if the Model Backbone Recording Sheet where the students will collect their observations and answer questions with their model backbone as an aid.
