Looking for a fun, new interactive way to engage your kids and practice their receptive language skills? Then, this is the activity for you!
How to Use:
-Print and laminate Monster Mats and cards. Cut the cards.
You will also need the following colors of Playdough: purple, blue, red, yellow, green, and orange. If you do not have a color, simply remove the cards with the missing color from the deck. You may also use the pre-made body cards and dry-erase markers or Playdough for quicker clean up.
-Set aside the cards with the purple text. These are your body cards. Students may select one body card at the beginning of the activity. This will give them the base for their monster. You may also choose to let them select a premade body card as an alternative.
-Place the remaining cards ( in black font ) in a deck for students to choose from.
-After each student has chosen a body card, have them take turns choosing a card from the deck and handing it to you to read.
Students may choose one card for one step directions with modifiers or two cards for two step directions with modifiers. Example: Add one, blue eye.
-Read the card or cards aloud for the student, then the student may add the targeted pieces to their monster.
-Who can make the silliest, scariest, or happiest monster?!
*When students are done, they can complete the included worksheet to describe their monsters.
