"Build a Necklace"
- /d/ Articulation Activity
a treasure chest! Search
for pearls! Assemble
a beautiful necklace that any
Mermaid would want for her own! Do all this while intentionally
targeting 20 different /d/ words in a fun and engaging activity.
Scatter pearls (or tokens) around your classroom.
Give your child the tissue box treasure chest. Tell him/her that you will be searching for pearls together! Set a timer and see how long it takes you both to find all 20 hidden pearls! Once the pearls have all been collected, come back to the table to build some beautiful jewlery together!
At the table, direct the child to select a necklace or bracelet to assemble. Search for pearls for your necklace from inside the tissue box. Take turns pulling out pearls. Say each word that you see on each pearl. Then attach it to your necklace (using the velcro), or simply cover up each spot with a token.
For added fun: The treasure chest is B&W so that your child can color on it with dry erase marker before you go on the "pearl hunt."
This activity includes:
-28 individual pearls with /d/ words
-1 black& white treasure chest
Preparation: (10-20 mins)
Print and laminate all materials. (5 mins)
Cut out individual pearls and treasure chest. (5 mins)
Attach treasure chest to empty tissue box.

- on necklaces, bracelets, and individual pearls
To avoid laminating, cutting, and adding velcro to these individual pearls...use Chipper Chat tokens to cover up the pearls on each necklace and bracelet instead!
