My class has struggled with understanding the concept of Place Value and 10 times more. In order to help them grasp the concept, I created this set of task cards which has students physically place and move numbers on a board in order for them to SEE what is happening when you change the place value of a number.
This set comes with 48 regular cards differentiated task cards (green—4th grade, red—5th grade, blue—higher), number cards, place value mat, a spinner, an answer sheet and an answer key.
1. Students should receive a set of numbers (0—9) and a place value mat.
2. Students can use the place value mat to create numbers based on the task card. (More advanced students may not need to use the mat.)
3. Students draw a task card and follow the directions to build a number that places the specified digit in the correct place value.
4. Students write their number in the correct space on the answer sheet.
**If desired—students can spin the spinner in order to apply other place value skills to their number.
