Build a Sentence Pocket Chart Activity with Writing Page
UPDATED: JANUARY 2017
*** American and Australian spelling included ***
This activity and writing pages have been extracted from my Phonics Letter of the Week MEGA BUNDLE
and combined into a separate packet here. If you have already purchased the Mega Bundle, please DO NOT purchase this!
About this book:
This book contains 26 beginning sounds sentence building sets for use in a pocket chart. Each set of cards has a different sentence starter and introduces words that begin with the focus letter. A writing page has been included for each set so that children can trace the starting sentence and write and illustrate 4 words.
Directions for use:
To prepare the activity, print the sentence base (top strip) and the accompanying picture cards. Laminate them for durability, and then cut the picture cards into squares, making sure to leave the sentence base intact. Store each sentence base and corresponding picture cards in a large zip-lock bag together with the writing page.
The aim of this activity is for children to practice reading a predictable sight word sentence using different words that begin with the focus letter. Children choose a picture card from the pile and place it on the colored square on their sentence frame, then read the sentence out loud. Once finished, children complete the writing page included in this packet.
Happy Teaching :)
