Build a Sentence - Winter

Build a Winter Sentence

Learners will have fun building these fun Winter Sentences. The sentence is divided into 3 parts with picture cards for each part of the sentence. This packet will help students learn about sentence structure. Each sentence comes in three parts, which is rich with winter themed vocabulary.

What is in this packet?

There are a total of 36 picture cards, 12 cards each for the beginning, middle and ending of the sentence. This allows for endless combinations of different sentences. The sentences formed will be nonsense or silly sentences which provides learners with a fun experience as they build their sentences.

The sentence mats contain three boxes with Who? What? Where? so learners can recognize the structure of sentences easily.

How to use this?

Learners will place the picture cards onto the sentence building mat and read out the sentence that they have formed. They can record the sentence if required onto the recording sheets (two versions are included).

Alternative Version:

This packet also comes in a version where a 3D cube can be assembled to build a dice. Learners will roll the three dice and place it on the mat to build their winter sentence. They can then write the sentence onto the recording sheets.

The centers are best used once printed on cardstock and/or laminated. You can choose to implement these centers in an independent way or use with small-groups.
