Limited resources, business, bartering, and mining combined! This classic tower project takes a twist to give the biggest bang for your buck! Students take produce bags filled with different materials (spaghetti noodles, gummy bears, marshmallows, toothpicks, etc.), mine into them to get the materials, and trade with other groups before they even begin building. Even after this, students can learn how to take out a loan (and how much interest can cost them!) and what it takes to make the tallest tower. But there's a catch! Even after all of this is said and done, the EPA wants to make sure the mine has been fixed back to it's original form! Step by step instructions, guided questions, loan information and summary questions are all included. Works well in any resources unit, with great cross-curricular learning!
