This activity is a great resource for a hands-on, multisensory approach to building 2-digit numbers in standard form! Use this resource for place value lessons, math centers, reteach purposes, etc.
There are differentiated versions of this place value work.
Version 1 includes taking numbers represented in expanded form and putting it into standard form. (Ex: 4 + 60 = 64; 20 + 8 = 28)
Version 2 includes taking numbers represented in expanded form and word form and putting it into standard form. (same examples as above PLUS 3 ones + 7 tens = 73; 9 tens + 5 ones = 95)
This work also includes student recording sheets for answers and exit tickets for both versions.
Depending on students’ ability levels, you can introduce Version 1 first and then move into Version 2….OR…some of your higher students may be ready to begin with Version 2 while others work on Version 1 first.
