Need to build addition fact fluency
without your students’ motivation going extinct? Dinosaur themed workmats and numeral cards provide highly motivating, hands on, developmentally appropriate
math thinking and work. Dinosaurs make learning the concept of addition fun. Great for kindergarten through second grade.
Based on math standards and focused on developing deep number sense and a concept of addition, this is a game your learners will ask to play over and over again.
Classroom tested and student approved. To prep simply print workmats and numeral cards on cardstock, and laminate for better durability. Add manipulatives and you are ready to go.
Students use the dinosaur number cards to make a number sentence. Students show their thinking using objects, 5 frames, 10 frames, number bonds, or by drawing
on the dinosaur addition workmat. Then they write the equation and read it aloud to themselves to make sure that their equation is written correctly and that their math proof accurately represents the equation.
Begin with totals to 5
and work up to totals to 10
and then move to totals through 20
math workmats make differentiation easier
and more sustainable

Hands on math workmats create the space for learners to work out their math concepts by building numbers and addition equations
to show their thinking. It is a great way for teachers to see where a question or a redirect will help their students get to the next level in their understanding of numbers and addition. Workmats and teacher prompting lead the students through inquiry and exploration
to discover for themselves and so embeds the learning deeper into their brain.
We hope that your class enjoys this game as much as we have.
Have fun observing and supporting the exciting math discoveries and new knowledge that your class will make through math workmats. It is a delight.
