Just in time for Constitution Day!!
This activity is appropriate for students that know a lot of information about the Constitution or very little information at all. It would be a great activity to do for Constitution Day.
BBKs allow students to generate questions, and brainstorm any background information that they already have on a topic. Students are required to make inferences using primary source documents and informational texts. It is also a great opportunity for students to work both individually and in groups throughout the lesson. This activity fosters students' curiosity about a topic and gives them immediate and visual feedback of their learning. It is especially helpful for students to become better and informed readers of informational and difficult texts.
This lesson involves everything that you need to implement a BBK in your classroom!
1. Mystery Text
2. Gallery Walk pictures and protocol
3. Scaffolded Note Sheets
4. Teacher Instructions
It took my students three 55 minute periods to complete the entire protocol.
