1. Lego Morning Work or Indoor Recess Mini Challenges for STEAM/STEM
Get the mornings off to a great start with Lego mini-challenges! Use these for morning work, indoor recess, or in connection with your STEAM/STEM teaching block. Personally, I have TONS of Legos and I know that they are an extremely motivating and tactile tool to use in the classroom to get kids excited about collaboration, critical thinking, and writing.

What's included?
-Teacher Directions
-21 different half pages to label the Lego challenges
-36 task cards with Lego challenges written
-12 task cards with Lego challenges written and shown with a picture
-6 Lego written response pages in 3 versions (regular lines, double-spaced lines, or a picture space and lines for a caption) ***Each of these comes with a border and without a border.

Teacher Directions:
I print the half sheet pages in color. Next, I cut them out and used packing tape to secure them to plastic pencil cases. You could laminate, but I just covered the paper with clear packing tape. Next, I filled each box with a random assortment of Legos. I tried to make sure that each box had the parts for a car, but other than that it was just fill the pencil case to the top with all different Legos!
I took the task cards, printed them on card stock, laminated, and then hole punched them onto binder rings.

Each morning, my students come in and can work independently or with a partner. They choose ONE challenge a day to complete for morning work.

I started with just the challenges and then introduced having students select one writing piece a day to turn in.

2. Lego STEAM/STEM Coding Challenge Projects
Try out 6 all new exciting Lego coding Challenges! Each challenge includes a description of the challenge, a planning space, and lines for reflection. Each challenge has 4 different student pages to choose from in order to differentiate for various learners. Bring STEM to your classroom in an innovative way! Students will have the opportunity to work with the binary alphabet, build robots, construct mazes, and then code the robot's way through obstacles and mazes!

In my classroom, each child uses a tupperware of Legos. Each child has the same Legos to use for each challenge. The only materials required for this pack is an abundance of Lego pieces.

There are additional pages for student mini books. These mini books can be used for planning, reflection, or journaling. Some pages are blank, while others have questions and prompts relating to the challenges. Print double sided, flip on the short side. Make sure to use an even number of pages so there are lines on every page.

There are two versions of every page, one with a polka dot border and one with no border.

Included:
-writing paper
-Multiple versions of student pages for easy differentiation every step of the way
-Student directions pages
-Teacher directions pages
-Mini books for reflection or planning purposes for students. Some pages are blank, while others have prompts and questions aligning with the challenges in this pack of activities.
-Coding cards with directions, as well as blank coding cards for students to write their own directions.

***Code.org is an excellent free resource to use while introducing coding to your students, as well!
